We are off to an amazing start this year! We have so many wonderful students and families! They are learning the routines of preschool beautifully! It is fascinating watching the friendships blossom already! October brings so much excitement at WCDS! The PreK class studied the life cycle of Salmon last week and it was culminated with a visit to the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery! I still can’t believe some of the adventures that you can find in our backyard! This week they will learn about leaves and make scarecrows! Do you know why leaves change color? During winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. They begin to shut down their food-making factories. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. The 3’s class begins exploring pumpkins this week! We will dissect one at the sensory table! Should be messy and SO much fun! The entire school gets to visit the Pumpkin Patch at Swans Farm this week!
